A cloth-backed reproduction, small size, from the Old Folding Maps of, to give it its full title, 'The London Directory or a New & Improved Plan of London, Westminster & Southwark; with the adjacent Country, the New Buildings, the New Road, and the late alterations by Opening of New Streets & Widening of others 1792'

This very finely drawn street plan extends from the Tyburn Turnpike (now Marble Arch) to Wapping and Rotherhithe, north to the site of the present day St. Pancras and King’s Cross stations, and south to Newington Butts (now Elephant & Castle).

The boundary of the City of London is marked, parks and other green spaces are coloured. Under the map is “A Table of References to the Churches and other Public Buildings shewing their Situation in the above Plan”. 103 churches and 54 public buildings are listed, indicating the offices which by then have been moved to Somerset Place (now Somerset House): Admiralty Office, Exchequer, Navy Office, Pay Office and Stamp Office.

Each individual cloth-backed map is sold folded in a colourful case covered with a unique design marbled paper – no two cases are identical.
